What is the difference between an 80 and a 90 percent furnace?
The number is how much of the fuel becomes heat in your house. An 80 percent furnace sends 20 percent up the flue. A 90 percent condensing furnace captures more of that heat, vents through PVC instead of the old chimney, and produces condensate that needs a drain. It costs about $1,000 more up front and returns it through lower gas bills over a Kansas winter.
